It seems that Circe’s magic only changes living things, Wonder Woman thought, as she took off, racing above the city. But that’s bad enough. New York is full of people, animals, and plants. If she stays here, who knows how much damage she’ll cause!

Circe gave a loud laugh as she flew after Wonder Woman. “Come, my beauties!” she shouted to her monsters. “Capture our prize. Hold her steady so I can transform her. Then she will be one of you!”

Soon, other flying monsters were darting toward Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman saw three harpies — giant vultures with the heads of women. Behind them flew the giant monster that used to be a dog, growling fiercely.
